Elections Israëliennes: quelles conséquences pour la paix?
Dans le contexte d’un conflit ouvert avec le Hamas dans la bande de Gaza, on s’attendait à ce que la droite et l’extrême droite fassent une percée lors des élections législatives du 10 février en Israël. C’est effectivement ce qui s’est passé. Même si Kadima (parti centriste) arrive en tête, c’est le leader du parti de droite traditionnelle, Benjamin Netanyahu qui a été chargé de former un gouvernement qui inclurait probablement l’extrême droite, emmenée par Ari Libierman qui a fait son succès électoral sur une hostilité affichée envers les arabes israéliens. Si les deux hommes ne sont pas d’accord sur tout, ils partagent le même rejet de la création d’un Etat palestinien et des accords d’Oslo signés par Yitzhak Rabin et Yasser Arafat en 1993. Le Hamas ne voulait pas non plus de ces accords, ce qui fragilise encore le président de l’autorité Palestinien, Mahmoud Abbas, qui reste le dernier haut responsable élu vraiment attaché au processus de paix. Il faudra beaucoup d’efforts de la part de Barack Obama et de l’Union Européenne pour tenter de trouver une issue à un conflit qui doit se conclure par la reconnaissance de l’Etat d’Israël et par la création d’un véritable Etat palestinien en mesure de répondre aux aspirations sociales et économiques d’une population dont les souffrances se matérialisent en un avenir bouché et en des vies gâchées.
